ju chup rahae gi zaban-e-khanjar - laho pukarae ga asteen ka

I wanted someone to acknowledge this. I wanted some one to state the obvious. Media was reluctant to say this, political parties were too busy dealing with issues related to death of their workers to focus on this - and in between the obvious was neglected and ignored. It was feared that opinion makers will ignore what even a layman like me knew and so the truth about the real motive will get buried in the sands of time.

And just then, it emerged and emerged from no place else but the mouth of czar. In an interview to Talat Hussain, czar just said it - the truth just spilled out. "25000 -30000 people roaming in the areas of MQM will give an impression that MQM’s political base is eroded and it no longer is the major political force in Karachi".

I have always believed that the truth prevails and these words were an acknowledgement by killers of their crime. And the truth is that MQM knew that the hoax (mind you hoax) of its popularity in Karachi will be shattered on the roads and streets of the city if CJP's procession is allowed a free ride. This is where the bhai (the buzz word for mafia Dons) in London got edgy and communicated to the bhai in GHQ that this cannot be tolerated come what may. And what came was a blood bath in which city of Karachi soaked for almost 72 hours.

Karachi being the most opposition-minded of the cities was bound to come out in hundreds of thousands on May the 12th. Even in elections held under general in 2002 (and we all know how fair they were), anti MQM vote was more than the MQM vote. Situation in terms of public support has got even worse in the years that followed and now my assessment is that in fair, free and terror-free elections we might see a big swing in Karachi. The hoax is to be broken. They have managed to stop it on May the 12th but they cannot do it for times indefinite.

This issue also highlights the significance of countering the fascist tendencies in Pakistani politics. We have two types of fascist political organizations, first the religious parties (mainly on religious issues or issues they exploit in the name of religion) and second MQM (on virtually every issue). Thank God, as of now, no main stream party has Fascist tendencies, but if this cornering continues, the main stream might be forced to pick arms in self defense.

Has someone had the conscience and patriotism in the ranks of people running Pakistan to ask the czar to stop? Or are they the partners in crime to? Institutions as well as individuals.

For now, the blood on the arm of the killer has confessed the crime, justice is to be delivered, and it is just a matter of time......

don't know how I stumbled upon this blog, must be orkut or some other place, anyways... let me say your analyses of the issues and situations is not just mature but pretty apt.
I was one of those who ventured out on 12th May early in the morning to comment on 'Europe ka badalta hua siyasi manzarnama,' I find it so ironic that while my city was preparing to enact 'the khoon ki holi' people inside were debating abt riots in France, protests in Turkey and so on and so forth...tis sad.
